Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner

A very busy few weeks lately. Not only getting the new novel ready for publishing, but there’s the running. Esther Chilton sent me the final edit of my book and as always she has done such a wonderful job. Now begins the formatting and final examination. Hopefully it will be published in the next two weeks.

Anyway… back to the plot. Yup yours truly is a winner (twice in fact) We had the Nothern Relay Championships here a couple of weeks ago and I found myself in the A team. No pressure then! Three in a team, and each one of us ran 5k each. Guess who went last of the three? When you take over as last man in a relay and your team is ahead, trust me its not fun haha. But best foot forward as they say. We won with a margin of five minutes.

The following day I had a 10k race, and I wasn’t sure how much the previous day had taken out of me. There was only one way to find out, I guess. An undulating road race with forecast rain, not something I was looking forward to. Luckily the rain held off and the undulations were not as high as I’d expected. Once again it was best foot forward. To have a team win one day is fab. To then have an indivdiual win the following day? Well what can I say! There was a bottle of red wine opened that night. 😂

They say I’m retired. Huh. I prefer to say I now work for myself. I published a debut novel a couple of years ago and I’m just doing a final read through of a sequel. There’s another book finished which was a collaboration but that’s hit snags. So, it looks like The Siege of Mr Khan’s Curry Shop Part 2 will be published first. For my sins I am a Yorkshireman, albeit well travelled, but back home in God’s own country now. I run, cycle, swim and drink Red Wine. If you want to know anything else just ask.

  3. I don’t run on streets anymore and I pray for rain when I run trails. There’s nothing like raindrops hitting tall evergreens and finding their way down to the forest floor. Sometimes, on the coast, if it’s misty, the tall trees grab the moisture right out of the mist and it can be “raining” underneath the trees and dry everywhere else. But enough about me. Good luck with the novels, future characters, plots and finding the next pair of running shoes! Lol! Take care.

    1. Ah yes, the trails. I do prefer them, especially long ones. You describe the “raining” so well! I don’t mind running in rain, I dislike the standing around in it waiting for the gun to go off lol. Thank you for your comment and kind words, life is such a never ending series of suprises, luckily 😊
